Gascoigne made the worst move of his football career by moving to spurs. If Gascoigne moved to Man UTD and with Ferguson as his boss then Gascoigne would have achieved success for a player blessed with his talent deserved.
Whitesied, Robson, and moses. Great players in the bar beer , rum , and some punani. Gascoigne outclassed all of them, and added abit of magic flour on the top aswell, as if icing on the cake .
The only player Ferguson couldn't turn into the Utd machine was Ronaldo. Everyone else did. Cantona too. He would have been better for Gazza's head, but if he had his way Gazza would have been as individual as he was post injuries. The player of what might have been - just like Rooney.
@@lothburke2243 when sir Alex said he's the best English player since Bobby Charlton itsa huge accolade. He would not have wanted to buy him if as you say United didn't need him. Given the talent he had as well as what United had already and being a different football club than when George best was playing for them my personal opinion is that United would have been even more dominant on both domestic and European fronts than the were.
He took the right decision. Tottenham made sure not only him but his parents were happy as well, this is how you take care of your employee. SAF got a lesson that day.
Paul said it was also the sun bed for his sister that made him go to Tottenham and said “if she’d had made do with a spray tan I’d have a few more medals now”.
Terry Venables was definitely the wrong manager to nurture Gascoigne, Ferguson would have been the making of him. Venables was morally vacuous, all he cared about was making a few quid over all else as Lord Sugar found out during their time together at Spurs.
As Sir Alex says Gazza made a mistake by moving to Spurs, but he made up for it after leaving Lazio by moving to Scotland and joining Rangers with Ferguson's old friend Walter Smith.
Fergie might’ve been able to look after Gazza. Maybes there’s another reality where he was a Man Utd legend and won the World Cup for England. Loved Gazza when I was a kid.
What a shame, Paul would have been world player of the year at least once. He would have a cabinet full of medals, and probably be in a better position in life today. What a talent.
Clickbait. Alex Ferguson was talking about Paul Gascoigne, but I wanted to hear him talk about Paul Gascoigne.mp4 (bitrate, encoding, disk volume size etc). Very disappointed unsubscribed.
Here's an alternate timeline I'm sure Newcastle fans would have loved. When a young Alan Shearer went for his trial with Newcastle they didn't have enough goalkeepers for the trial matches so the trainers just picked outfield players to go in goal for the match and you guessed it Shearer was one of the unlucky ones. One seemingly irrelevant decision cost the club 15 million quid in the long run. Imagine a Newcastle team with Gascoigne and Shearer staying with the club until they got an infusion of cash during the early 90's? I bet they would have made more than a dent in Man Utd's 90's titles haul I'm sure if you asked Kevin Keegan today he'd tell you he would love that alternate timeline.... Loooovveee Ittttttt!!! 🤣
All these comments voted up saying Fergie would have made sure he was the best in the world and healthy for the next decade and after thinking about it and taking into account both of their personalities and upbringing...... i'm honestly not so sure. Gazza was working class, wore his heart on his sleeve and never backed down from a challenge, his bookings and sendings off seemed to come from him being overly emotional, if he had lost possession cheaply and was over compensating wildly trying to get the ball back and that showed a lack of maturity, but because he's so ridiculously talented he more than makes up for this potentially catastrophic flaw. You need players like him because people who are overly emotional are normally also overly competitive and push themselves to be creative to always succeed, couple that with an addictive personality, hyperactivity and money not being an issue to limit him anymore and people lauding him as the best young footballer in England sends your confidence through the roof.... i just dont see Sir Alex getting through to him If Fergie had been too strict on him it could have backfired spectacularly, pretty sure if Alex had thrown a boot at Gazza he would have picked up Paul Scholes and thrown him at Sir Alex. Alex Ferguson upbringing was very very very tough and he used fear to control his players and i just dont see that approach working with an 80's Gazza. We might have never got the timeless classic Fog on the Tyne single either and i dont want to see that alternate universe
really?? he managed cantona and Keane for the better part of 12 yrs. both crazy characters and both turned out to be 10 times the players they were because they came to united. cantona was actually about to retire. Platini and houllier actually had to convince him to come back. otherwise we'd Never get to see the enigmatic frenchman. if sir Alex was amazing at one thing, that was man management. he would have been the only guy in the world of football who would have controlled him and given his energy a proper direction.
Yeah in hindsight gazza should have gone to United but then again gazza's gazza...he's crazy...you have to let him be to get the best of him...but saying that cantona was also mad🤣...he didn't do to bad🤷
However life ended up however sad it is the country loved him they still love him Gazza was the best we have ever produced and no one has played for the shirt like this man nothing can take that away as a child I can only thank him for the memories.
There are no evidences but with a great manager like this, Gascoigne would have probably won the Ballon d’Or(and with a long career 1999 Champions League as well) Figure out Gazza among Keane,Scholes and Giggs. Just yeah
Gazza himself admitted it, he made a mistake not signing for united. He said it himself, ferguson would've been a massive benefit to him off the field, and looked after him.
As a Spurs fan,for Paul's sake, he'd have been better off at United. Fergie would've straightened him out, kept his feet on the ground. Ultimately in football, the player's welfare trumps all other considerations. A real shame.
He was a hero at spurs and Venables was no chump. It’s here-say, Ferguson might have fallen out with him, few boots thrown.... I still think it was the reckless on field tackles that led to injury’s that was a bigger demise than his lifestyle choices. Maybe they related to his other... hard to say.

If Gazza had signed for Man Utd, I have no doubt he would have been up there with the world greats. Such a shame.
Imagine gazza and cantona in the same utd team
Fergie would of looked after him until his performances started dwindling . Then he'd of hung him out to dry TBH . Fergie was ruthless .
If only he hadn't gone on holiday............
United fan. Thank the lord that bum gazza never came to united 🙏
Clearly a city fan then as he would have made United even more immense than they were under sir Alex.
@@MartinWall-ru3ro I don't see how . Not needed if you look at honors won 😆

Fergie being Gazza's manager - can you imagine ? - The Mancunian 👍
He wouldn’t have lasted.

No, Man Utd recruitment got a lesson that day. A painful one.

Don't forget when Paul was growing up spurs were winning trophys 2 fa cups uefa cup....maybe if big Ron would have still been boss he wud have signed.

Paul Gascoigne. The greatest ever player for Man U who never was.
In life anything can happen but there’s no better boss than Sir Alex to shield you.
Crazy. United missed out on the best player in years for the price of a house for his parents in Newcastle which in 1987 would have been about £10k. 😊
"The bright lights of London" blinded Gazza!

Who's here after Sir Alex gave a similar answer during the interview on LADbible TV?

Rip David Frost
Gazza was made for United he would have thrived at Old Trafford.the guy had talent.
To see Gazza playing for Man United would of been amazing
Big praise
Whiteside and Moses were trash😂😂😂
This was the era where transfer battles would usually be decided by whichever chairman that would buy the player a house or a pub.
He wasnt good enough for utd Did he ever produce the goods consistently ?? Like to know when
Yeah shame I'm a spurs fan but Ferguson was right fit, terrible waste of outstanding natural talent.
What does he say from 1:30 on?
Gazza himself admitted it, he made a mistake not signing for united. He said it himself, ferguson would've been a massive benefit to him off the field, and looked after him.

His selfish father wanting a house of Spurs. Putting his own needs before his sons.
I think the final sweetener was a sun bed for his sister.
Nope it was the booze.
Gazza to join Utd under the umbrella of Sir Alex would've taken him to legendary status. Same applies to Alan Shearer I think. Same it didn't happen
When you talk Sir Alex....We Listen!
He went for a London lifestyle & a house, oh & he signed for Spurs.
